Black and Blue

I mentioned in my last post that I was really loving the combination of different shades of blue and black.  I will have to be honest and say that my Olivia Palermo obsession has fueled the fire and given me tons of inspiration on both color trends and different silhouettes.  In my Pinterest folder, I focused on this pin for inspiration.  I love the colors, obviously, and the full skirt paired with the tweed jacket.

Since I had to attend our national sales meeting and it was freezing cold outside, I paired my tweed jacket ($15 at Marshall's!) and high waist skirt with tights and boots, rather than bare legs and heels.  The grey from my boots and vintage belt was the perfect color to pull it all together.  I also awarded myself Best Dressed at our meeting, just in case you were wondering ;)

Jacket: Monteau Los Angeles via Marshall's, great option
Top: H&M
Skirt: J.Crew Stripe Taffeta Mini, old but here is a version from French Connection for $17!!
Boots: Zara (old) awesome Sole Society version for $40!!
Belt: vintage Christian Dior
Tights: Target
Bracelets: J.Crew Classic Pave' Link, Kate Spade, Banana Republic, Stella & Dot Renegade Cluster Bracelet

Black Watch

I found this Black Watch plaid jacket on one of my many Target expeditions a few months back.  I had been eyeing one from J.Crew, but because of the ratio of #'s of wear vs. price, it didn't really make sense.  When I love a piece, but it's pattern or print is pretty distinct, it's not something that I will choose to wear very often, simply because it's too distinct.  At $25, this blazer was at a great price point for me, plus the details were an added bonus.  The pop of tangerine under the lapel and the seersucker print cuff lining sold me immediately.  It's wool and warm, which I appreciate in the arctic temperatures we are having here in Dallas.  This particular plaid is rather versatile since it has both navy and black, so I can play off either color.  I'm having a love affair with navy and black right now, and can't believe that I didn't gravitate towards it earlier.  Those age old "rules" of fashion, i.e. white after Labor Day, patent leather in the summertime, and black and navy is a no-no just don't apply to me anymore and I am so glad they don't!

Top: J.Crew Blythe Blouse, color no longer available, but these bright colors are beautiful!
Heels: BCBGeneration via TJ Maxx for $23, similar here and here
Bracelets: Kate Spade, vintage Hermes, Banana Republic, Stella & Dot Renegade Cluster, J.Crew Classic Pave' Link

Tag Team Back Again

Check it, direct it, lets begin!  Y'all know you love you some Whoomp There It Is, don't play.  That's the exact song that popped into my head as I purchased my replacement camera lens yesterday.  So, I'm back in full effect.  Okay, enough old school rap.  What new with y'all?

I've been crazy busy working on my house and trying to come up with some new outfits for the blog, but it's tough getting dressed during winter time.  I find myself wanting to wear the same old thing, over and over.  I just want to be warm.  For those of you who are outside of Texas who think I'm being a huge baby, let me tell you, it gets cold here.  Not frozen tundra cold, but pretty damn cold, and we have been on a streak of 30 degree weather for a good couple weeks now.  The dogs don't even want to go outside and it's tough getting me out there, I'll be honest.

I was brave enough today to wear tights instead of pants to the office.  I'm not really into tights.  They aren't the most comfortable things in the world, but for a girl who loves to wear skirts and dresses year round, they are sometimes a necessary evil.

Anyways, I'm happy to be back and will try my hardest to get some good cold weather outfits to you in the coming weeks.

Vest: Target old, but similar
Skirt: Zara, old

Pinterest Remorse

For any of you guys that follow me on Pinterest, you know I' an avid pinner.  Frankly, I don't know what I did before Pinterest.  I feel the same way about reality tv, but that's a whole 'nother addiction, and I have plenty.  I saw a couple of things this evening that I loved and as I was clicking the "repin" button, I was thinking to myself, "I am going to regret this."

I shit you not, about ten minutes later, my bestie texts me.  The following coversation ensued:

BFF:  WTF?
Me: Hey, how was your day?
BFF: Is there something you have to tell me?
Me: No, I worked until 7:15, had dinner and I am just getting home.
BFF:  I haven't talked to you all day and you're pinning baby shit?  I'm getting concerned.
Me: I pinned them to source a couple things and the other seemed like a good ab workout!  Believe me, when that happens, I'll be calling you, screaming bloody murder!
BFF: I'll be so excited, so hurry the f*#k up!

So, this is a classic case of pinners remorse, friends.  I'm not on the baby train, not even close.  I don't know how I would ever style my outfit posts around another human expanding my waistline ;)

Will have a new lens tomorrow (finally) and can't wait to show you guys some new stuff!  Mis syou, love you, kiss kiss, boom!
